“We stayed there recently for four nights and could not have picked a better B&B. The location is perfect, being right next to the Academy and near shopping and restaurants, so we could walk to everything we needed. The room was nicely done with more amenities than we expected. Steam room, large soaking tub, and wonderful, multi-head shower. Each morning we were treated to an excellent, gourmet breakfast. Feeling was relaxed and homey and Innkeeper was welcoming and attentive.”
“Academy B&B was such a wonderful find! My boyfriend and I recently spent one night at Academy in the Harbor View room. What a spectacular room! It was very spacious on the top level with great charm and historic feel, while also having the luxuries of today’s amenities. The bathroom had an oversized jacuzzi tub and a spa shower complete with a steam shower, rain shower and multiple shower heads. Very romantic. I would definitely recommend staying in this room if possible! The common areas of the house are also terrific with lots of great character and antiques. I loved the fireplaces and the old church pew that was located in one of the sitting rooms.”
“I recently stayed at the Academy Bed and Breakfast for a mini work retreat with my sales team. There were 6 of us, so we took over the entire property. Having lived near Annapolis for some time, I can tell you with certainty that the location is top notch. Academy is located one block away from the harbor and I believe some of the rooms have a water view. Even in inclement weather all of the shops and dining choices are foot steps away. The interior and exterior have been recently updated but still capture all of the charm of historic Annapolis. We held our meeting in the parlor which was a pleasant change from a hotel boardroom. All of the suites are beautifully decorated. The lower level is apartment like with two bedrooms and a shared living space… perfect for a family! John took excellent care of us and provided an incredibly delicious multi-course breakfast and home made cookies for our mid day break. All in all this is a fabulous property and I look forward to suggesting it to out of towners that want to have the full Annapolis experience. I am also hoping to stay there again myself. Enjoy”
“The Academy B&B made our trip to Annapolis for Valentine’s a trip to remember for a lifetime! We stayed in the Harbor View room, a spacious room on the top floor with views of the Academy and across the harbor. The bathroom was oversized and included a large jacuzzi tub, an enclosed rain shower with multiple heads and a steam option. The arrival was perfect, with the staff making arrangements to accomodate special surprises for the event. You cannot find a better location for downtown Annopolis, walking distance to the city dock, capitol, shopping and Eastport. Breakfast made it hard to leave, with fabulous fruit, homemade granola, and hot items including homemade sausage, potatoes with herbs and spices, french toast and omelets (if you still had room) Enjoy!!!”
“I surprised my girlfriend with a stay at Academy for our one-year anniversary. Over the phone and especially in person, John (I believe he’s the owner) demonstrated the epitome of hospitality and it seemed as though he couldn’t do enough for us. The house is beautiful and is in an ideal location for walks through downtown Annapolis. We stayed in the Academy View Suite and it was even nicer than the pictures on the website let on. Aside from being a very nice looking bedroom, the bed is comfortable and there’s a flat screen tv mounted on the wall, with DirectTV – seemingly every channel included! The bathroom of this suite is amazing. Very large jacuzzi tub with a hand shower as well, his and her sinks and a separate commode. There is also a walk-in shower with a huge bench that doubles as a steam room. The shower is of the overhead “rain shower” variety, with colored led lights to illuminate the water and there are also shower heads built into one of the walls. The other suites seem very nice as well.”
My husband and I have actually never been to this B&B. We booked twice, but had to cancel both times due to family issues. I have to say that John was so accommodating with both our cancellations; there were no hard feelings and I could sense his genuine concern over the phone. He did not pressure me with having to book right away. He told me to focus on what we have to do and re-book whenever we are ready! I have dealt with B&B innkeepers before, and mostly, I have not had problems, but once or twice I had dealt with some who became unpleasant with cancellations. Hey, life happens, right? All I have to say is I am already impressed and I have not even set foot in this guy’s property. I can’t wait to spend a nice and long romantic weekend with my husband at The Academy sometime at the end of summer. Thanks John!
